New Orleans-Celebration in the Oaks

After a very full day driving to New Orleans and touring the Aquarium, we took a short rest and bundled up for a night at the City Park for The Celebration in the Oaks. It is a multi-faceted Christmas celebration, featuring tons of beautiful lights, a full amusement park and a super fun story themed park. We got a little worried as we walked down the line, and it was already stretched out for a long way, we decided to stick it out and I'm so glad we did.

The girls climbed up on the Santa Gator's lap while we were waiting.

And Little Bo Peep's Sheep.

After a 2o minute wait in line we made it inside and our first ride was the giant slide. Laura didn't remember that she had been on one of these before, and was a little scared. I rode with them, and Laura was holding my hand most of the way down. All of us loved it!

After the slide we took a ride on their antique Carousel. It was so pretty, and I don't recall ever riding one that was enclosed like this, which was great on a cold night.

A view of the Carousel Building from the top of the Ferris Wheel.

We took a train ride that took us all around the Park, what a fun night.

There were lots of round and round little kid rides, and they rode until their little noses were frozen.

We came to the Celebration to take in the lights, but by the time we were done with the Amusement Park, we were about worn out. We did manage to walk through some of the lights and they were really pretty, and really put us in the Christmas mood.

The Story Land playground, I wish we had something like this in our hometown. And I'm glad I found it before they were too old to enjoy it. Although we even saw some teenagers going down some of the slides, so maybe it's not something you'll outgrow.
