Leah's first day of Kindergarten-Monday

Leah had her first day of Kindergarten on Monday. We had to leave the house by around 7:20 in the morning, not our normal routine. She had the breakfast of champions, Lucky Charms in a cup. I'm such a good mom, I will say it was totally her choice. I did the good thing offered her fruit, pancakes, etc..., but dry cereal sounded the best. I wanted her to have the best day ever, so that's how it started. Joe and I met up in the parking lot, after he dropped Laura off at my parents' house, and walked her to her room. She said "Good morning Mrs. G", sounding so grown up. It caught me off guard, and made me realize that she just might be grown up enough for big girl school after all.
She sat right down and started coloring on a page her teacher had at her desk. I hung around for a while, nervously asking random questions of the teacher, that she was so kind to take the time to answer for me. I asked one of Leah's preschool friends, Myneshia, if they were going to look out for each other today, and she said yes. Leah then asked her, "Myneshia, will you play with me on the playground?" and Myneshia said, "yes." Then Leah said, "What do you want to pretend to be today?" That was the only point all day that could have brought me to be the cry baby momma. It was just so cute, and made me feel that she was going to be just fine.

At the end of the day, Leah and Gavin waiting in the car pick-up line, what an experience that is. A little chaotic, but there appears to be a system to the madness. I was pleased that Leah came home in pretty much the same condition I sent her in, the only change was the red stain from an ice pop she had eaten at lunch, at 10:30 in the morning. I guess nobody helps these poor kids when they are at the big school, so she came home a little more colorful.
