Labor Day weekend

We spent the majority of the weekend having fun with the kids, and keeping one eye on the weather. We were very fortunate and Hurricane Gustav did not affect us much at all, hopefully it wasn't too damaging to Mississippi, Alabama & Louisiana.
Saturday
We took the girls to the Greek Festival put on by the local Greek Orthodox Church. It was a good cultural experience for the girls, the music was so loud though, we made it a quick trip. Joe & I ate some Greek food, and then we headed over to Baskin Robbins for dessert.
The girls LOVE ice cream!

Sunday
We had some outer bands blowing us around and giving us sporadic showers, so we spent the majority of the day at home. Laura remembered the color hairspray I bought over a year ago, and requested that I color her hair for her. She was then Rainbow Dash, the My Little Pony, for the rest of the day.
Monday

We had spent as much time as we could inside, and after the tornado warnings were lifted, we made a dash for the mall. We spent a couple of hours there, eating Chick-fil-A, riding the carousel, going to the book store, toy store and finishing at Classic Cookie. When we came home the girls played at the house. Both of their imaginations have been on overdrive all weekend. Leah can run an endless monologue all by herself, she has multiple characters for each play, and they each get their own voices. We built a cave with sheets and they played in their for a little while. Sometimes bad weather gives you the best inside play time.

Once the rain lifted, the girls went outside and played while Joe put all of the stuff that he put away for the storm back out. I went over to the barn and rode in the gusty weather, and it was actually a really nice break from our typical hot weather. I came back over to point out a Vulture that was snacking on a dead squirrel in the road. The girls were in awe of it, and even though I have seen a few of them, when you are reasonably close to them, their size is pretty impressive.

The vulture flew away when we got to close, so the girls decided they would play with the rocks in the driveway. Simple pleasures.
